Benee is the performing alias used by Stella Rose Bennett, a singer and songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. Born on January 30, 2000, Benee blew up on TikTok in 2019 thanks to the viral success of her infectious pop track “Supalonely.” That song, which features American musician Gus Dapperton, was later featured on her debut album, Hey U X, which was released in November of 2020.
As Benee, Stella has earned multiple awards throughout her relatively short career. She’s the recipient of the New Zealand Music Awards for Best Solo Artist, Best Pop Artist, and Single of the Year, all of which she’s won two years in a row. She also took home the 2019 award for Best Breakthrough Artist at the NZMAs. To add to her impressive list of accolades, she’s also a nominee for MTV’s VMAs as Best New Artist, as well as the Apple Music Up Award.
