  • Rodrick grew up a fan of Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Future, and Speaker Knockerz, rappers whose inspiration can be heard in Ricch’s own work.

  • At the time of the release of his second mixtape, Feed Tha Streets II, Ricch was in county jail in Atlanta.

Roddy Ricch’s First Releases

Roddy Ricch released his debut mixtape, Feed Tha Streets, in November 2017. The album’s sound is a blend of East Coast and West Coast hip-hop, and its production – as well as Ricch’s lyrics and flow – earned him praise from Meek Mill and other notable rappers. After dropping his first mixtape, Ricch put out B 4 Tha Fame, an EP that got him more exposure in the rap scene. After the release of the EP, Nipsey Hussle had Ricch appear onstage with him at a show in LA. In July 2018, “Die Young,” a song produced by London on da Track, came out. The track was written about the death of fellow rapper XXXTentacion. “Die Young” earned over 120 million streams on Spotify, and its accompanying music video got 80 million-plus views on YouTube. In late 2018, Roddy Ricch released collaborations with Marshmello and DJ Bugsy, with the former putting out “Project Dreams” featuring Ricch on December 7.

Feed Tha Streets II and More

  • In November 2018, Ricch released Feed Tha Streets II, his second mixtape. The record features “Die Young,” “Every Season,” and several more of the rapper’s biggest hits. Production work on the album was provided by Avedon, Beezo, Tarantino, London on da Track, and others.
  • On February 15, 2019, Roddy Ricch collaborated with fellow rapper Nipsey Hussle on the track “Racks in the Middle,” which was produced by Hit-Boy. The song gained even more notoriety after Hussle’s death a month after its release.
  • On December 6, 2019, The rapper dropped Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, his debut rap album. Released via Bird Vision and Atlantic Records, the album features several high-profile musical guests, including A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Dirk, Gunna, and many more.
  • Please Excuse Me was a highly successful debut album, with the single “The Box'' becoming Ricch’s first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The album debuted at number one on the albums chart in the US and spent four weeks at the top. His second single from the album, “Start Wit Me,” also did well, as did “War Baby.”
  • “Start With Me,” an album single that features Gunna, earned praise from critics and has drawn comparisons to DaBaby’s music. With its melodic trap sound and catchy lyrics, the song earned numerous accolades, even being named the “New Rap Song of the Day” by notoriously stingy outlet Pitchfork.
  • In 2020, Ricch appeared on DaBaby’s single “Rockstar,” which got him to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second time.

Roddy Ricch’s Personal Life

While he’s kept the relationship on the down-low, Roddy Ricch has been dating model Allie Minati for at least four years. The couple had a son together in 2020, when Ricch was just 22 years old.  Roddy was arrested back in August 2019 on felony domestic violence charges, and TMZ reported at the time that the arrest took place after a fight between Ricch and his girlfriend. After posting $50,000 for bond, the charges against Roddy Ricch were dropped, and the couple made up.  The couple has continued to keep the details of their relationship – and their son’s life – as private as possible. The post on Allie’s Instagram celebrating the birth of her son with Roddy has since been deleted, and the couple lives as low-profile of a life as they can.
