Zain Javadd Malik, better known simply as ZAYN, is an English singer from Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Born on January 12, 1993, the 28-year-old musician is best known as a former member of the boy band One Direction, with whom he won third place on The X Factor in 2010. Malik had originally entered the show as a solo competitor, but he was grouped with fellow singers Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson by judge Simon Cowell to form One Direction.
Since his departure from the world-famous boy band, Zayn Malik has been releasing music as ZAYN. He put out his debut album as a solo artist in 2016, and it features the hit single “Pillowtalk,” a song that proved that Zayn could sustain a career in music on his own.
ZAYN is the recipient of numerous accolades, both for his solo music and his work with One Direction. He’s won an American Music Award for New Artist of the Year and a Billboard Music Award for Top New Artist, as well as many other honors.
